There are a variety of transportation services available for people with disabilities. Some forms of transportation cost more than others, some have an application and qualification process and many have restrictions.

    Gas Stations

    Public Transit

    • Durham Region Transit - Public Transit within Durham Region offers both conventional buses with accessible features, as well as specialized service.
    • GO Transit - GO Transit provides train and bus service for Toronto and the GTA. Click here for more information on accessible service
    • TTC - The Toronto Transit Commission offers various accessible services on conventional buses, wheel-trans door to door service, and some subway stations and cars. There is no accessible service for street cars at this time.
    • TTC Wheel-Trans - Wheel-Trans provides door-to-door accessible transit service for persons with physical disabilities using accessible buses, contracted accessible and sedan taxis.

    Taxi, Limo or Other Private Services

    • Blue Line Taxi - Wheelchair accessible taxi service. Schedule your accessible service one day prior to trip.
    • Circle Taxi - Wheelchair accessible taxi service.
    • Dignity Transportation - Dignity Transportation services the greater Toronto area as well as surrounding areas including: York, Peel and Durham Regions as well as the rest of Ontario. Special outing services are also available to neighbouring cities and tourist attractions, like Niagara Falls, Casino Rama in Orillia, and other destinations throughout Ontario.
    • GTA Accessible Transportation - GTA Accessible Transportation provides access to affordable, safe and reliable transportation for everyone with special needs. Services can entail consistent and/or sporadic trips to work, school, day events, special excursions and tours, as well as visiting family and friends within Ontario and the U.S.
    • Rapid Taxi - Durham Rapid Taxi provides a wheelchair accessible taxi service. Phone to order wheelchair accessible taxi one day or several hours ahead to ensure service.

    Air Travel

    • Air Canada - In addition to providing special meals or assistance to unaccompanied minors, Air Canada looks after the special needs of customers who require assistance because of a disability or medical condition.
    • Canjet Airlines - All persons with disabilities will be offered pre-boarding and given other additional assistance as required. Please contact a Canjet representative for more details.
    • Delta Airlines - Delta Airlines offers many accommodations for passengers with disabilities including: Seating accommodation, welcoming service animals in the aircraft cabin and accommodation of on-board medical oxygen and other assistive devices.
    • Hope Air - Hope Air is the national charity that helps Canadians get to medical treatment when they cannot afford the flight costs. Hope Air is supported by many of Canada's national and regional airlines who donate seats, plus hundreds of Volunteer Pilots who contribute their time and aircraft.     • Porter Airlines - Porter Airlines offers a variety of services for passengers with special needs and is pleased to accept the following assistive devices onboard: ventilators, respirators, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, portable oxygen concentrators.     • WestJet Airlines - Many guests with special needs are able to book on the internet and select the special services they require. Guests who have other special needs may make a booking, but are required to contact a WestJet Sales Super Centre so they can confirm the service you require and make necessary arrangements for any additional services which cannot be requested through their website.
